Hello!
I am graduate of Drexel University's Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Industry Recording Technology.
I began my studies at age 5 and continued to study privately through college. As a youth, I learned classical technique under the Suzuki Piano Method. In high school I was also introduced to jazz technique, which later inspired me to study and perform with the Drexel University Fusion Band.
I enjoy performing the works of Rachmaninoff and Chopin, all the way to Herbie Hancock and Joplin. My diverse piano training has supported my creativity to compose and record my own music and some of my recordings can be heard on Animal Planet. I have great skills with arranging and composing MIDI scores and all aspects of computer based music recording.
I currently teach part-time at a local music school around the Philadelphia area. I have students that range from 5 years all the way to adult-ages (I also teach the father of one of my 9 year old students!) My focus tends to be on 3 things - TECHNIQUE, METHOD/THEORY, and REPERTOIRE
TECHNIQUE, "Finger Power" and "Dozen a Day" type exercises that reinforce the hand movements and fingerings that we will see all throughout the songs we will be playing.
METHOD/THEORY, The language and patterns behind the notes we play. There are logical ways to break down these teachings to different ages, I have always been interested and keen on the receptiveness of each student individually.
REPERTOIRE, With a concentration at first on the classics, the repertoire we develop can also merge with popular songs and whatever the students interests are. There will always be at least one secondary song that re-enforces the technique and theory.
Music, especially the piano, has had a great influence on my life and I am excited to help establish more young musicians in today’s technologically advanced world.
