Hello!
I am currently living in Philadelphia, working as a job employment specialist in the city, and hold a master degree in Creative Arts in Therapy: Dance/movement Therapy from Drexel.
II have been trained intensively and extensively in ballet since childhood, receiving training primarily at the Dance Conservatory in Delaware, with intensives with the Boston Ballet and Ballet Magnificat!. My undergraduate degree is in dance education K-12, and after college, I danced with the Roanoke Ballet Theater for 1 season, and 1 season as a guest artist. Currently, I dance with a company in the Philadelphia area. This training has built an understanding of the fundamentals, history, philosophy, and technique of ballet. Whether you are interested in ballet as a hobby, for health, or are looking to further your technique, tutoring is available. It will be up to you to decide/attain to the location of the lesson--whether that is at home or an open studio space. Many local studios provide space for private lessons to occur.
Currently, I tutor students in Philadelphia in subjects K-12. I have BS in Dance Education K-12, but have taken courses in English (elementary through college level) and math from elementary math up to algebra III, including geometry, algebra i & II. I have tutored students in geometry (my favorite), algebra, reading, social studies, and elementary-middle school mathematics, sometimes where English is their second language. Both of my parents were elementary school teachers and have taught me many different ways to study, break down questions, incorporate strengths, and integrate knowledge. It is my goal to work with student, to find ways that you or your student learn, retain, and work well. From my therapist background, I work from a person centered approach, incorporating knowledge from previous courses taken.
I am available most weeknight and weekends, sometimes as early as 5. All lessons are in person, and won't be conducted via internet/skype, etc. Also, I have my own transportation. Please do not hesitate to message me if you have any questions.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Andrea
