Most of my students initially classify math in the same category as the other four letter words. My teaching styles allow them to change their mind and at least respect the concepts enough to give me their best effort. They may not love math but they will be more comfortable learning the problem solving strategies I teach them.

My students will take a learning style survey. This lets me know how to teach them and it helps them understand how they process information in a classroom. I have been working with computers and math since the late seventies and I kept up with the mathematical changes over many decades. My former students range from the inner city schools through the corporate computer executives.

I maintain a high success rate of students improving their scores on their standardized tests because I set high standards in the classroom. I give students plenty of opportunities to let me know they do not understand the material. I want to know their short comings before the formal assessment. I get to know my students so I can personalize their lessons so they can be more successful. I still run into former students who thank me for being their math teacher.

I have a highly qualified ranking on my Delaware middle school and secondary mathematics license. I have a Middle School Mathematics Pennsylvania license. I have completed nine years in a formal classroom teaching profession in the Philadelphia school district in Pennsylvania in addition to the Appoquinimink and Christina school districts in Delaware. Home schooling and the Oxford Learning Center are other experiences. I am currently a mathematics tutor at Delaware County Community College.

I have a high success rate of helping fellow educators pass their Praxis I and middle school mathematics assessments. Microsoft office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc) have had many releases over the years, and I have kept up with the new features.

I teach because I have a passion for having a positive impact on my students by helping them understand math concepts. I will continue to tutor when I retire from the formal classroom.

Algebra 1

The word Algebra can sometimes be a scary word for some students. I can get them to relax and look at the problem and break it down to something they are familiar with. Basically any math is adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. A student just needs to know which operation to use and the best way to use it to answer the question presented to them at that time.

Elementary Math

I understand math can be a troubling subject for some students. I work real hard to understand their learning style so I can teach them in the "language" they understand. I am very patient and I have many strategies that can help your child be successful

Praxis I
I passed all 3 (Reading, Writing, Mathematics) the first time. I have tutored several teachers in these areas, particularly with the mathematics. Every educator I have tutored thus far has passed their Praxis I assessment.

Praxis II Middle School Mathematics 0069
I passed this assessment the first time. Since 2003, I have been teaching 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th grade mathematics which gives me a lot of experience teaching this level of mathematics. I also have a degree in computer science which helps me teach critical thinking skills which is valuable in problem solving strategies.

Basically any math problem is solved by either adding, subtracting, multiplying or dividing. A student just needs to know which operation to use and the best way to use it to answer the question presented to them at that time. Figuring out that is the largest portion of getting the correct answer.

I can help students figure this out

I have been sewing since the late 60’s because it was difficult to get affordable clothes to fit my 5”10” body at that time. I have produced dresses, skirts, blouses, pants, suits. I have also made gowns such as prom and wedding gowns. I have also made flower girl dresses and christening gowns. I also help alter gowns purchased from other places.

I made all the gowns I wore and all the gowns my youngest daughter needed for her different proms.
