Hello students and parents! I am a first-year student studying at the University of Pennsylvania. I am intending to major in mathematical economics and minor in Actuarial Math and Physics. Throughout my four years of high school, I have not just developed a passion for mathematics but and an aesthetic appreciation for the discipline. In addition to taking all of the advanced mathematics courses that my high school offers, recreationally, I have worked on proving new theorems and discovering newer concepts and insights in diverse fields, primarily algebra, numerical analysis, and calculus. While I have observed that some students find mathematics difficult or boring, I believe that everyone who can think logically has an innate potential for math. Often, given incorrect or uninteresting instruction, math can indeed appear to be a bore; this is why I like to try and bring out the best of math in students. I like to provide a holistic instruction in mathematics and render it as a very logical and intuitive subject rather than an abstract and cryptic blur. I try to do this by starting with fundamental concepts, and gradually moving into brief proofs or explanations that validate claims, examples that train students to be familiar with different problems, and real-life applications to garner interest. I also enjoy tutoring in physics, given its mathematical-orientation.
In my senior year of high school, primarily as a volunteer tutor, I have helped several underclassmen in areas they were less comfortable in, including physics, algebra, and geometry. I have also volunteered helping AP Calculus BC students in special review sessions for the AP exam. I want to make sure my student succeeds and masters his/her math curriculum. Within the classroom I have excelled in many AP courses, including Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Physics B & C, Calculus BC, Statistics, and Computer Science A.
