I graduated from Antioch College (Yellow Springs, Ohio) and Antioch College (Philadelphia, PA) and respectively earned BA and M.Ed degrees. I have an elementary certificate (K-6) and a special education certificate (K-12). I studied at Pennsylvania College of Optometry for a two year teacher program involving students having visual impairments.
My cooperative educational experiences as an Antiochian included contact with: learning and developmentally disabled students along with those having an ADD/ADHD diagnosis.
As a teacher/tutor with over 25 years experience, I have connected at elementary, middle, and high school levels. I have also worked with adults on an individual basis and in alternative educational programs. My skills as a special needs teacher have been demonstrated through resource room, learning support, emotional support, high risk, therapeutic support and homeschool programs. I am available for homework assistance, implementation of IEP goals, reading, English, phonics, math, and elementary test prep.
I also provide services for enrichment/refreshment, study skills, essay writing, public speaking, career development, and college readiness (applications/forms, interview process, funding etc.).
My passion for teaching has enabled me to help students bridge the gap and advance 2+ years or more in many cases. Learning should be desirable and enjoyable rather than rigid. My extensive teaching/tutoring years of experience will allow me to provide you or your child with innovative one-one specifically designed lessons. My approach is: Design the lesson to fit the needs of the learner!
