Having been a teacher for 6 years, I have gained much experience in the art of providing elementary students with tailored instruction in reading and test preparation. I use my fun-loving personality to make learning an enjoyable experience. I have experience working with special-needs and exceptional learners.

My strength in adapting content to meet the individual needs of a child helps students of all abilities to be successful. I use a combination of technology, hands-on activities and traditional teaching methods to make sure students' grasp and maintain concepts. I am most comfortable working with elementary-aged students.

I am a Pennsylvania Level II Certified teacher and also hold my Pennsylvania Principal Certification. I have a Master's degree in education and have focused on curriculum and instruction throughout my schooling and professional career.

Reading

I have been teaching language arts to elementary students for the past six years. I am experienced with teaching phonics, word study, vocabulary and reading comprehension. I use a variety of current, research-based techniques to assure reading success.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have been a Level II Pennsylvania certified elementary K-6 teacher for the past six years. During these six years, I have implemented the Harcourt Trophies Reading curriculum, Imagine It! and a number of small-group interventions like Corrective Reading and Voyager. Throughout my professional career in education, I have experience in Kindergarten, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth grade classrooms.

Phonics

I have taught phonics for the past 6 years using two different curricula. Phonics is an integral aspect of my daily instruction as an elementary school teacher. I am familiar with the instructional approaches used in Words Their Way, Corrective Reading and Reading Mastery. I have also implemented phonics instruction through the use of Harcourt Trophies and Imagine It!.

Study Skills

I have practical experience in assisting students with test preparation and study skills habits. As a public school teacher, I am responsible for nurturing my students' abilities to be prepared for standardized tests as well as summative assessments. Students will learn test-taking strategies, including ways to analyze types of questions and process of elimination.

Softball

I have been coaching softball for the last ten years providing private pitching and batting instruction for young softball players. I specialize in the beginner player introducing proper technique and building muscle memory. As a head coach I helped to build players' confidence and encourage sportsmanship and teamwork.
