I am a Pennsylvania certified teacher with two years of teaching experience. I specialize in assisting students to achieve their full potential in reading, writing, grammar, spelling, and all areas of the language arts.
I am certified to teach Social Studies 7-12, Language Arts (or English) 7-12, and K-12 English as a Second Language (ESL). I take a balanced approach to teaching ESL that emphasizes speaking and listening skills as much as writing or grammar.
My Master's degree in Education has given me a treasure trove of teaching strategies and lesson plans that only a knowledgeable teacher can bring to the table. I am great at using students’ prior background and culture to help students draw personal connection to the material they are studying. I will go the extra mile to help make material relevant and interesting to any student.
My students get lessons geared to their learning styles, backgrounds, and interests. What I love best about tutoring is getting to know my students’ areas of particular strength and weakness so that I can build on the strengths and minimize the weakness. Keeping lessons geared to students’ interests helps me increase engagement. While I have high academic standards, I never get frustrated with a student. Teaching is my passion.
