I am passionate about teaching but I am also not without doubt whether things can be taught completely. I am of the opinion that students already have sufficient knowledge, however due to one obscurity or the another, it is not readily accessible to themselves. For instance, Mathematics is hard for many because of the strangeness of the language. To imagine x square in Algebra is the same thing as erecting a square on a line of length "x" in Geometry may or may not have been taught to him/her. The crisis of the current mathematical and scientific subjects challenging the young minds is the language that obscures the obvious. Having said that, however, the scientific language is as such for the benefit of the subject and its torch-bearers. The problem that I want to point towards is not the language but the lack of proper training to understand the language. I will be aiding not in the mechanical act of doing homework. How to do a problem will come naturally when you know what you are doing and why.
I have been tutoring for last five years. I have also been a Math Assistant for a school where the original texts of Newton, Einstein, Maxwell, Faraday and Poincare, among many others, are read. My education started out with questioning Euclid's first definition of point as a breadth-less length and ended up deconstructing the Euclidean Geometry.
