My name is Tracy. I am a graduate of Mount Holyoke College where I was a math major and an education minor. At Mount Holyoke, one cannot have a double minor, but I completed the requirements for a minor in physics. I love to work with children of all ages and adults - I just love to teach! I love tutoring because I love to get the chance to work with people one on one or in small groups. I have experience as a classroom teacher, but I prefer tutoring because it really lets me get to know a student and help her/ him with particular needs. I can tailor my teaching to that student's learning style and knowledge.
I specifically love to tutor math because it gives me the chance to help students overcome math anxiety, which is all too common in today's world. I also love to help students overcome test anxiety, which is often a cause for poor math performance. I believe that anyone can succeed in math. One of my professional goals is to help overcome the idea that only certain people are "math people" and other people cannot do well at math.
Further, I enjoy helping people to prepare for standardized exams, including the SATs and the GREs. I have experience working with students who suffer from test anxiety. Also, I have experience teaching students the mechanics of how to take tests well.
Additionally, I have a lot of knowledge and expertise in various aspects of computer software and HTML programming. It would be a pleasure to teach these skills to others. In today's world, it is necessary to have outstanding computer skills to survive in the work place.
In my spare time, I love making my seven month old baby laugh, cuddling with my two adorable cats, reading, doing crossword and logic puzzles, and playing sports.
