I am a creative, lively, and respectful tutor who has been working with Philadelphia youth in various capacities since October 2006, when I began a job as a high school classroom assistant. I am an honors graduate of Mount Holyoke College, a well-respected liberal arts college and can confidently say that academics come naturally to me. More importantly, though, I have skill, patience, and creativity in explaining these things to others.
I have been working in after-school and summer camp programming for the past three school years and six summers with youth K-8. My workplace has suspended its programming for the time being, which is unfortunate but does allow me more time to tutor in the hours after school.
"Gardening" and "Outdoor Enrichment" are not listed as subjects here, but I would be excited to offer the subject that is my specialty. I love to incorporate all different subjects (literacy, math, science, art, etc.) into what I do and make my lessons as fun and hands-on as possible for different learning styles.
However, this is not the only subject I have worked in, as I've helped extensively with homework and tutored independently. I am comfortable tutoring all elementary and middle school subjects, most high school subjects, and some college subjects. College students are encouraged to contact me for help editing and polishing papers, something I excel at (as this requires less preparation, my rates are lower). I am bilingual in English and Spanish, so I empathize well with ESL students and can help with Spanish classes.
Drop me a line! I'd love to talk about working with you and/or your child!
