I have over six years' teaching and tutoring experience and a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology, which emphasized learning theory and motivation as well as statistical analysis and research methodology. I teach adolescent development and child development at a local university; combined with my math skills, this make me the perfect tutor to teach your child math or SAT preparation.
At the college level, I have tutored undergraduates in precalculus and assisted a professor with a precalculus class at a community college. I have tutored graduate students in statistics and have consulted with doctoral students on methods and procedures for analyzing dissertation data and on the use of the SPSS statistical computer package. I have also taught a beginner’s computer class as a volunteer for the Center for Social Policy and Community Development at Temple University. I have over twenty-five years’ experience working on mainframe and personal computers and am proficient in Word, Excel, SPSS, Windows and general computer use.
I have always wanted to be a teacher but I was persuaded to pursue a degree in a mathematical field since I always excelled in my math classes. I have recently retired after twenty years as a research professional at Temple University and would consider it quite an opportunity to be a tutor and share with students what I have learned from my studies and my work experience.
I have been using mainframe and personal computers for over 25 years. In 1985, I started using the DOS operating system and have used all the Windows operating systems that have been developed since then. In February 2011, I upgraded from years of using Windows XP Professional to using Windows 7 Ultimate. In September 2011, I took a Temple University computer seminar in Windows 7 to solidify what I had learned on my own and to discover facets of Windows 7 that I might have missed. I now have extensive knowledge of Windows 7 structure and use and am confident that I can teach it in a way that will be easily understood effectively utilized.
I have a master's degree in Educational Psychology, which emphasizes learning theories and teaching methods. I teach courses in adolescent development and early child development at Temple University in Philadelphia. Both of the courses prepare potential educators to take the Praxis exam. I also tutor general math, algebra, geometry, statistics, and research methodology.
I have over 20 years' experience as a research professional at the Institute for Survey Research, Temple University. In this position, I have become proficient in statistics and the use of SPSS for data analysis.
I have over five years of tutoring experience. I have attended numerous workshops that teach college professors how to apply evidence-based principles to help their students learn. This semester I will begin teaching a class at Temple University. From my own experience as a student and from my teaching experience, I can help improve study skills and offer suggestions on how to improve one's performance in the classroom.

Very Patient — Lorraine is a wonderful tutor. She is patient and works at a pace that is convenient for the student. This is my second time working with Lorraine and she jumped right in where we left off a couple of years ago. She has a great, user friendly disposition in terms of explaining statistics in laymen's terms. I would highly recommend her. ...
