Thanks for reviewing my profile. There are a ton of great tutors on WyzAnt, so I really hope you can find what you are looking for. Below is a little information about me. I am always happy to answer follow-up questions if you would like to know more about me or my background in a particular topic.
BACKGROUND
I have had the pleasure of working with a diverse group of people over the years. As a former camp director, I supervised college-aged staff, developed programs for children from 5-17 years old, and ran weekend retreats for family groups, churches, schools, and active older adults. In tutoring, my recent students reflect this diversity still, and their ranks include high schoolers, undergraduates, adults, and senior citizens. Working with others and helping them achieve their goals is an incredibly rewarding experience for me.
ACADEMIC SKILLS
I recently received my Master's Degree in Experimental Psychology from Saint Joseph's University where I have also served as the Teaching Assistant for both graduate level and undergraduate statistics. I was honored with the departmental award for the best graduate student and completed the degree with a 4.0 GPA. This spring, I was accepted to the University of Maryland's Ph.D. program in Human Development and Quantitative Methodology. My graduate position there will be funded by a research fellowship from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (part of the National Institute of Health).
I consider myself an excellent statistics tutor and can assist people with most operations that can be performed in SPSS, or if necessary, how to calculate univariate statistical tests by hand. Most importantly, I can help students understand what the results they get mean.
Beyond statistics, I can also help students plan research, develop proposals as well as edit literature reviews and completed projects. I have conducted research using longitudinal, experimental, and observational methods. Recently one project was accepted for publication in the Journal of Social and Clinical Psychology. Another project examining dimensions of the summer camp experience as predictors of positive business outcomes (e.g., camper retention) and youth development outcomes is currently under review for publication in a peer-review research column. So if you are struggling with some phase of a research project, whether it is the literature review, study design, measures, statistics, or writing up the results, I can help.
