I have taught students biology for over 9 years at the university level and 2 years at the high school. I teach students how to think about biology so that they are empowered to understand and not simply memorize material. I believe that the best way to learn something is to associate new concepts with concepts that students already know. In order to accomplish this, I will use examples students are familiar with and make analogies to biology concepts. I have been recognized by both universities and professional societies for excellence in teaching at both the K-12 and university levels. I have been successful teaching biology to both biology majors and non-biology majors. I demonstrate a quest for excellence in exceptional communication, analytical, and presentation skills.

Students often do not understand why the amino acid sequence in a given protein is important to its biological function. Students know that proteins are the macromolecules responsible for carrying out biological activities, but they do not always understand the impact that the amino acid sequence has in the specificity of that biological function. In order to explain the relationship between... read more

I remember taking Physics while I was in college. I avoid physics in high school because I thought that it was too hard for me. I heard other high schools students talking about the course and it sounded hard. I thought that only people with a natural gift for science or physics would do well in this subject. In high school, I saw that the students that were doing well in physics were doing... read more

A nice person, A good tutor! — Wendell was very personable, professional and punctual which is very important for me. Although I had a newer version of Excel, than he was used to, he was still able to help me gain a basic understanding of the program to the point of my feeling comfortable enough to dive in on my own. Thanks Wendell! ...
