I graduated from Penn State University Park in December, 2008, with a B.A. in Spanish, a B.A. in English, and a minor in International Studies. During undergrad, I spent a semester studying abroad in Salamanca, Spain at the Universidad de Salamanca's Cursos Internacionales. I also had internships editing scholarly papers for a non-native English speaking professor, tutoring returning adult learners though the Pennsylvania Literacy Corps, and at the Penn State University Press. I also worked as a Resident Assistant, helping first-year students make the transition to Penn State's large campus go smoothly.
Since graduation, I have worked as the assistant city editor at a newspaper, where I copy edited all stories, and proofread page proofs before sending them to press. I also assisted job-seekers in my role as career resource specialist at a CareerLink facility in State College, PA.
Currently, I am attending West Chester University to obtain my PA teaching certification in Spanish. Upon completion, I plan to add certifications in English and ESOL. I have been substitute teaching in a variety of classrooms since August 2010.
Language is so exciting to me, and I hope to pass that excitement and enthusiasm along to my students. I believe that enthusiasm, creativity in instruction, and building relationships will help my students to succeed.
