After studying Spanish for nearly a decade, I moved to Spain following my graduation from the University of Maryland. There, I completed a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course in Seville in order to become a certified language teacher. In September 2007, I moved to Barcelona and spent three years teaching English and gaining fluency in Spanish. At the beginning, I worked with a company and taught students of all ages and ability levels, both in group and one-to-one settings. Soon, I was able to become independent and manage my own freelance business due to my students' satisfaction with the classes and their subsequent recommendations to friends and family members. Throughout my time teaching in Barcelona, I received consistent positive evaluations and feedback, with many students commending me for my professionalism, personalized lesson plans, and fun, effective teaching style. Since returning to the US, I worked for a year at the Latin American Community Center in Wilmington and am now working as a Spanish teacher at a bilingual school in center city.
