I have experience tutoring students in middle and high school, as well as college - including adult learners, in the subject areas of math, chemistry, biology, and writing for research. Additionally, I have worked with students of differing capability levels (example: remedial, college prep level & honors). I've been employed as a professional tutor at the local community college and university, but currently tutor part time along with working a separate full time job. I'm very excited about learning and helping you (or your child) develop the skills and confidence to become an independent learner!

Bible Studies

Having read the Bible several times and taken part in many different Bible study group formats, as well as having a formal religions course-work, I would be happy to teach you how to read the Bible, for both personal interpretation & historical applications.

Cooking

I have been an avid baker and cook for years. I am especially interested in developing delicious alternative recipes, including vegan-friendly & gluten-free. I would be able to provide introductory lessons including basic food prep, how to navigate a recipe, how to stock your pantry so you're always ready, special/holiday cooking, nutrition background, etc

Elementary (K-6th)

I am excited to tutor students in all levels of elementary school and have experience working with students in these grades from involvement in things such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters, church programs and siblings. I can tutor the students in a wide range of subject areas including math, science, reading and writing as well as working on other general social skills and critical thinking abilities.

Genetics

I have taken and tutored college level genetics course, with an understanding of many areas such as inheritance, Mendelian and non-mendelian, Gene interactions and transcription regulation, evolution, population and developmental genetics, etc.

Linear Algebra

I have taken and tutored college level linear algebra, which includes topics such as elementary matrices, row operations to reduce matrices, matrix operations, inverses, transposes and permutations, spaces and subspaces, determinants, eigenvalues, etc.

Microsoft Publisher

I have used all of Microsoft Office applications for many years, and typically use Publisher to create such things as fliers, business cards, newsletters and other announcements. I would teach you the ins & outs of all the buttons, creating your own page as well as how to use Publisher's pre-designed pages. We can work on a project you already have or draft up some creative examples to give you practice.

Organic Chemistry

I have completed the college level organic sequence with A's myself. I have experience tutoring the lecture and lab portion of college level organic chem 1 & 2 for several years for students from differing schools.

Public Speaking

I have taken a general public speaking course in college and have very much experience speaking in front of small and large groups, with note cards and/or presentations as a fundraiser.

Religion

Having completed religious course work in college and continuing my own studies, I have a wide knowledge base of world religions. If you are interested for personal reasons or for formal school work, I would help you navigate the different tenants of common religions as well as the historical significance of each one.

Sewing

I have been sewing for years. I especially enjoy quilting and making quilted items (like totes, ornaments, zipper-pouches) but also can do patterns, hems, adjustments, pillow covers, etc! I would provide some introductory lessons to enable you to become comfortable with your machine, different types of material, reading patterns, etc, in order to set you off down the sewn path!

Study Skills

I have several years of experience helping students learn the best ways to study their subject material for a wide range of student ability levels as well as different types of courses. I especially like to educate students on how to read math/science text books compared with reading for English-type courses. In addition, I help students to learn and utilize time-management skills in order to effectively spread out their study sessions and review appropriately. I have worked with middle through college students in study skills.
