I have been involved with teaching technology to professionals for the past 20+ years. As a father of two children I have also had a fair amount of experience in adapting teaching styles to best accommodate learning. My primary goal is always to promote understanding concepts and methods so that when new challenges are encountered students have the knowledge and confidence to succeed.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Adobe InDesign

I have several years of experience in designing full color books with InDesign. Examples would include several yearbooks for schools, books celebrating wedding anniversaries and travel photos.

Microsoft Access

Learning Microsoft Access can be challenging but with a bit of guidance anyone can make a basic database. I have experience in developing custom solutions using Access 2003 and 2007 using both the built in interface tools as well as coding in Visual Basic where necessary.

I can teach how to design a database as well as how to implement and optimize it's performance.

Photography

As an avid photographer with several years of experience using various cameras and shooting in a variety of situations I have hands on knowledge that I can share with you to help you learn the basics of digital photography.

This would include, but not be limited to use the features of a DSLR to attain the desired effect in your photos, Editing or post processing photos to fix those small errors that inevitably occur and of course organizing all of your precious photos.

Visual Basic

I have roughly 10 years of experience using Visual Basic (and other languages) to write code to solve various business problems. I can teach the basic principles of programming as well as the syntax and use of the Visual Basic language itself.
