First of all, thank you for your time and consideration during your search. I realize that your education or the education of your child is very important to you, and I wish you the best of luck in this process.
I received my BA from Temple University, where I majored in Spanish and minored in Anthropology and English. I am also the Director of Marketing for a multinational retail company I helped found, which can be found online at ix-style.com
We work to improve the quality of drinking water in Latin America.
At Temple, I maintained a GPA above a 3.3, wrote for the Temple Times, the ACLU, and played Club Badmitton. In addition, I tutored students there in multiple fields and backgrounds. Similarly, in the summer of 2011 I received a fellowship from the Chijnaya Foundation to develop Academic Curricula in Peru.
My experience teaching in Peru led me to believe that the creation of a positive learning environment is as essential as the material being taught.
Students can only be inspired under the right conditions. Students retain material when they are at ease, and enjoying the process. As I teach, I help the student create, through comprehensive, individualized and creative assignments, a passion for the subject. I craft in the student an appreciation for the subject that will motivate them in and out of the tutoring experience to realize that their potential for excellence can only improve.
Personally, my family comes from Guatemala, and I grew up speaking not only Spanish but some French, Latin and Italian. I spent a semester abroad in Guatemala and El Salvador where I taught English and Spanish at the European Academy in San Salvador, and I worked with several non-profits throughout the region (COPREDEH / Paz Joven). I was trained by professional teachers from Georgetown University and other noted Universities. I worked with students on an individual basis and in a class room setting.
My professional goals are consistent with the vocations I've led. I have completed my Bachelors of Arts; I majored in Spanish. I have many references: from a Nobel Peace Prize nominee, with whom I worked in Guatemala, to my Professors at Temple; I assure you that I am an excellent tutor. In my free time, I play the piano and read voraciously. I sincerely believe that who I am and my comprehensive teaching experience can be of use to a student of any level.
My employment with GradePower Learning, Rocket Learning and College Nannies and Tutors has only strengthened my profile and experience with teaching and tutoring.
