For the past three summers I have taught a filmmaking workshop for teenagers at the Maine Media Workshops. It's an intense and rewarding experience that combines my passion for film with my passion for teaching.
In the workshop, I guide students through the full filmmaking process: story development, screenwriting, casting, location scouting, storyboards, shot lists, directing actors, cinematography, lighting, sound, and editing. I have consistently received high scores on student evaluations and I have had numerous students come back to my workshop for a second year.
Within the film industry, I have worked on commercials, web series, and feature and short films. Previously, at the Maine Media Workshops, I have worked as a teaching assistant and as the Post Production Manager.
I have also taught a writing for film workshop at Spells Writing Lab, a non-profit in North Philadelphia. I guided the students in writing a group script, and then directed the students in making it into a short film.
I enjoy working with young people and young adults. My teaching style is to instruct in the principles of filmmaking and help the students make their own choices. As your tutor, I will have high expectations of myself and of you, at every step of the process.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping with your filmmaking!
