Hi! My name is Jennifer and I have been a teacher and high school guidance counselor for fifteen years. I love working with students of all ages, abilities and exceptionalities. My areas of expertise include English (elementary and secondary), college writing, SAT preparation, resume and cover letter building, as well as Reading, Study Skills and Speech. What makes me unique is that I can truly and cheerfully work with all students and find a way to teach them that incorporates how they learn most naturally while still building upon what challenges them. I am patient, nurturing and can reach the most reticent/difficult students. I look forward to working with your child!

Jennifer replied on 2/12/2014

I am very, very passionate about what I do. I truly love tutoring! Unfortunately, there seems to be a divergence in our communication on scheduling appointments. I did contact Mary to reschedule my missed appointment and was told she would follow up. I did have an emergency that necessitated one appointment being missed. As customers can see from my reviews, I keep appointments except for emergencies like loss of power in one's house or inclement weather.

ADD/ADHD

As a public school educator for fifteen years, I have worked with many students who have specific learning issues. Specifically, students with Adhd and ADD have increased success with strategies that can be utilized in a tutoring situation such as teaching students to use calendars, schedules and assist students with organizational habits. Even involvement in sports can help students learn discipline!

Career Development

I have been a professional, certified high school guidance counselor for most of my professional life in the state of New Jersey. I attend yearly workshops designed to help students and families with all parts of workplace readiness, college preparation including financial aid, SAT and ACT, scholarships, college applications, resumes and essays and much more. I am well versed on resources designed to help students "figure out" what their world of work related interests are.

College Counseling

I have been a professional, certified high school guidance counselor for most of my professional life in the state of New Jersey. I attend yearly workshops designed to help students and families with all parts of college preparation including financial aid, SAT and ACT, scholarships, college applications, resumes and essays and much more. I have worked in higher education at Bucks County Community College and have tutored SAT's and Study skills for years.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have been a public school teacher and K through twelve certified guidance counselor. I have worked with all subjects and ages! I am confident in all core subjects for elementary math, language arts, science and social studies.

Elementary Math

I have had a great deal of experience tutoring students in elementary Math. Because these concepts truly build the foundation for every student, math computation and reasoning is so key. Please see my ratings that are posted for my Math and Elementary sessions. I do love the subject matter and the age!

English

I have been an English teacher for my entire professional career. I enjoy helping students of all ability levels find success in their writing, reading comprehension, vocabulary acquisition and speech.

GRE

Hi! I can help any student improve scores on the Writing and Verbal sections of the GRE. We will use time tested strategies to attack this section of the test and improve your score.

Praxis

I have had a great deal of experience working with students to pass the Praxis. Students typically need refreshing in the main concepts that the writing section assesses, such as subject verb agreement, correct pronoun usage, parallel structure and modifier placement.

SAT Writing

Master the skills necessary to skyrocket that SAT Writing score. I can help you look at this section of the test in a completely new and fresh way.

Special Needs

I have worked with students with a variety of specific learning disabilities, cognitive impairments and emotional disabilities for fifteen years as a teacher of English and guidance counselor. I have graduate coursework in Students with Disabilities. I am up to date on the accommodations I can employ to assist in the instruction of any student.

Study Skills

As a lifelong Language Arts teacher and high school guidance counselor, helping students with Study Skills has been an integral part of my work throughout my professional career. Test preparation, Organization and Time Management, Note-taking, Learning Styles and Studying Smarter are all themes I am adeptly able to teach students of all ages and levels.

Track & Field

I have been a life long runner and run about 25 miles a week. I am an assistant cross country coach at a public high school in New Jersey. I can help the beginning and intermediate runner improve in distance and speed with a variety of workouts customized to the runner. Mile repeats, long run days, tempo days and hill work are just a few of my approaches. I am very adept at weight room proficiencies as well.
