I have been training in the martial arts since the late '80s. My passion for training and my love of teaching has led me to this moment. I feel a peace and happiness when I am teaching and learning karate. I have a Black Belt in Ryu Kyu Kempo and a background in Small Circle Jiu Jitsu, Arnis and Taekwondo.
Although these thoughts and ideals have not changed, I would like to preface it by saying that I know the pressure point techniques work. However, I also know that every technique has a counter and if you get into a fight on the street it may surely come down to a fight for your life.
Every form of martial art has something to offer. I like to keep my mind open to all of these options. I learn from my students as often as they learn from me. Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) has been a constant and ever evolving form for years now. Many fights end up on the ground and if you want to avoid being on the wrong end of the ground and pound, you have to evolve with it.
There is a spiritual aspect to my training as well as a practical side and I am dedicated to ensuring a well rounded experience for all. My hybrid style will focus on RyuKyu Kempo Pressure Point Self-Defense and Kata; as well as incorporating ground and stand-up MMA fighting. I want my students to feel confident that they will be able to protect themselves whether they are standing or on the ground. Training is an open book for all to give and take.
