I am interested in helping students succeed so they feel they are able to be productive citizens. I have been involved with the education system for over 12 years. Most of my work has been at the elementary level, but I have done some middle school work as well. I have not been teaching in a regular setting, but have been doing special programs within the classrooms. Prior to these 12 years I was involved with using drama to help teach English.

I believe creativity in learning is essential so I don't use one style when helping a student. I work with the student to help them understand what they are doing so, whenever possible, they are able to apply these methods in learning other topics.

I received my elementary teaching certificate upon graduation from Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pa in 1978 which certified me to teach grades K-8.

General Music

I studied music in all 12 years of my formal education. When we were in High School our music teacher used to play a “baseball” game with us where we would choose if we wanted a single, double, triple, or home run question. She would then play a musical phrase on the piano. The difficulty of the phrase would be determined by which type of question we picked. Piano

I took piano lessons from 4th through 12th Grade. In that time, we had several recitals where we needed to memorize a piece we had been working on for lessons. I was an accompanist for the Senior High Chorus my senior year in High School and when I went to College, I was the practice accompanist for my friend during her voice lessons.

More recently, I was the Church organist in my former church for several years and I am on the substitute pianist list for my current church.

Trombone

I studied the slide trombone from 4th through 12th Grade working my way to 1st Chair for the concert band in high school as well as playing in the marching band in high school. I continued playing when I entered college. I was a member of the college concert band and college jazz band all 4 years of my college education.
