I'm here to help you with your wonderful math and physics courses! Whether it's high school or college, elementary or advanced, I can help you succeed at those subjects that are traditionally viewed as a little difficult. Hopefully, I can also impart some of my enthusiasm for these disciplines.
I have a doctorate and masters in physics, with emphasis on mathematical methods. I've been a college professor for math and physics for the past twelve years. I love teaching, so I've been mostly working at small liberal arts colleges. I've taught large and small classes, for science majors and for general audiences, so I'm quite familiar with what's out there, including many standard textbooks. In particular, I have prepared students for professional entrance exams like the GRE and the MCAT/DAT/OAT etc. I usually get excellent student evaluations!
I see tutoring as closely related to teaching. Tutoring goes beyond teaching in that it reinforces the concepts taught in class on an individual level. Tutoring allows me to give you the special attention you need and deserve. Throughout my years as a graduate student and a college professor I have simultaneously been a tutor, for math and physics courses as well as for German, which is my native language. So far, I have tutored only adults, mostly college students.
I enjoy helping people succeed academically. I noticed some people have a certain anxiety about math and especially physics. One of my goals is to help them overcome this anxiety, one step at a time. I am very patient and will adjust to your individual pace and learning style. That may mean going very slowly. Experience tells me that even tutoring advanced material may require reviewing some basic algebra concepts.
Obviously, I will refrain from doing your homework for you, as that wouldn't help you learn the material, however, I am perfectly willing to guide you in the right direction on assignments. I try to be available to you as much as possible, including at odd times and weekends. I will employ any tutoring method that you feel comfortable with.
Hope to hear from you!
