Congratulations on looking for a tutor to help you out with school. Some kids would just 'bag it' when it comes trying to learn what they don't understand, but you are doing something about it. So to you, and/or your folks I say, "Way to go".
I have taught fifth grade for more than ten years, and have substitute taught for all grades, K-12. This past summer, I spent six weeks tutoring math skills to high school aged youth that were engaged in credit recovery.
When it comes to learning things at school, I am a big believer that there are many ways 'to skin a cat' (sorry animal lovers). In other words, there are many ways to go about doing the things that the teacher wants a student to do.
Let's take math for instance. Most teachers know 'A' way to solve a problem, their way. Some teachers know more than one way and understand that some kids can look at a math problem and solve it like "THAT". Others look at it like it is some strange language they've never seen before... which, in a way, is exactly what math is... another language!
I understand that and try to help kids understand math, writing, reading, whatever it is, in a way that makes sense to them... the individual. That is what I will do here with the WyzAnt tutoring service.
That is a little intro to me. I look forward to working with you. If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a line.
Thanks for reading and let's get started!
