Professor Michael P., PhD (candidate) has 25 years of professional criminal justice field and administrative experience working with juvenile and adult offenders with extensive histories of addiction as well as psychological and sexually deviant- related disorders in relation to criminal offending and victimization.
In addition to serving as an adjunct professor for several online and on-campus universities, Professor P. owns Guard A Kid of the Lehigh Valley, LLC – A child safety / fingerprint / DNA Identification business.
Professor P. has been teaching criminal justice, criminology, sociology, and psychology courses at the college / university level for the past 11 years. He has authored more than a dozen undergraduate and graduate book and/or scholarly journal publications as well as the United States’ first and only criminal justice quick study reference guide (28,000 + copies sold to date), and Criminology – A Quick Study Reference Guide, which was released in February 2011. His first publication, Crimes of the Internet, an anthology of cyber crime research, has sold worldwide and led the development of a Cyber Crime course for Savant Learning in which Crimes of the Internet is the required text. He is currently contributing a chapter on Leadership within the Criminal Justice field to an upcoming book titled, International Perspectives on Leadership: A Multidisciplinary Approach and is currently developing a graduate level online course titled, “Leadership in Criminal Justice” for World Education University.
In addition to teaching and writing, Professor P. also serves as a member on the International Editorial Advisory Board for the International Journal of Criminal Justice Sciences where he is one of only eight Americans. Most recently, he was asked (and accepted) to serve as a peer reviewer for the United States Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Programs and recently served as a Program Committee Member for the South Asian Society of Criminology and Victimology. Professor P. also serves as a criminal justice subject matter expert (SME) and criminal justice curriculum specialist for Fortis College and Lincoln University.
As far as educational credentials, Professor P. holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration (Summa Cum Laude) and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Kutztown University (Who’s Who Among Students in Colleges and Universities- 1989). Professor P. recently served a two-year term on Kutztown University’s Alumni Board of Directors. Presently, Professor P. is a doctoral candidate enrolled in Capella University’s School of Public Safety Leadership where he is pursuing a PhD in public safety / criminal justice with an anticipated graduation date of December 2014. He has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout his coursework and currently serves as a Doctorate Ambassador for other criminal justice doctoral students.
On a more personal note, Professor P. is the single father of two boys (Dakota & Darrian). Professor P. remains active in his community and provides free presentations to community members on the dangers of online sexual predators and other child abductors and through his business, Guard A Kid of the Lehigh Valley, LLC, which offers child identification packages consisting of digital fingerprinting, photographing, DNA, and Tooth Imprints.
