I am a recent graduate of Villanova University. I graduated summa cum laude, with a BS in mathematics, a BA in humanities, and a BAH in honors. I also minored in classics, philosophy, history, and theology. During my undergraduate career, I tutored mathematics at the Villanova Mathematics Learning and Resource Center (MLRC), primarily in Calculus I, II, and III, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra. Aside from that, I occasionally tutored high school mathematics and other more advanced college courses, such as Advanced Calculus, Logic and Set Theory, Foundations of Math, and Abstract Algebra. Many of these subjects I also tutored privately. In addition to this, I've done substantial work in the history of Western thought, and am thus quite competent to tutor philosophy generally, as well as certain areas of philosophy more specifically. Because of the nature of my course load, I've become very proficient in academic writing, both for classes in the humanities and for classes in mathematics and the sciences. Further, having studied classical languages, I have a very good linguistic sense and could thus tutor English language and composition. Aside from my primary strengths in mathematics, philosophy, and English language, I am also competent in some other subject areas, specifically literature, classics, and classical languages.
My current career plan is to attain a PhD in philosophy and teach at the university level. I am thus quite interested in education, and have a genuine desire to help people get the most out of their educations.
I took a class on Differential Equations (with Linear Algebra) at Villanova University (receiving an A grade), and have consistently tutored students in that class from the time that I took it. I also have high proficiency in calculus and linear algebra, and have taken other classes which rely on differential equations.
I began studying Koine Greek at Oxford University and then did a follow-up independent study at Villanova University. I am currently solidifying my Attic Greek. With this knowledge, and with a good knowledge of many of the texts that come out of Ancient Greece (Homer, the Tragedians, Plato, Aristotle, and philosophy and math generally), I could proficiently tutor introductory students in Ancient Greek.
I have taken a few courses which deal with linear algebra, namely Differential Equations (which introduces linear algebra), Intermediate Linear Algebra, and General Relativity, receiving an A in each of these courses. I have tutored linear algebra both for my job as a math tutor and privately.
I took a computer science class in formal logic at Villanova University, and have since used formal logic and set theory in the majority of my higher level math classes. I've also studied a great deal of philosophy, some of which being specifically related to logic and language (for example Aristotle and Wittgenstein). Thus, I have proficiency in logic in both its formal and informal strains, as befits mathematics and philosophy.
