Hello! My name is Brynna. I am 23 years old from Mount Carmel, PA. I graduated from Bloomsburg University in May 2012 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education. I am currently pursuing my Masters of Science Degree in Instructional Technology of Education. This past school year (2012-2013), I was a day-to-day substitute teacher in three school districts; Mount Carmel Area, Southern Columbia Area and Danville Area. For the last 6 weeks of school, I was a long-term substitute teacher in 4th grade Math at Mount Carmel Area Elementary School.
When it comes to tutoring, I feel like the most important skill a tutor must posses is meeting the student's needs. I will also assess the student's understanding of the subject by asking questions. I will also determine the student's need for them to succeed in the subject(s) they are struggling with. Strategies will vary, but I will always remember to engage the student in the material. I will attempt to use good questioning techniques, positive ways of correcting students, and positive problem solving skills.
I am a very personable and caring person. I will do my absolute best to have my students succeed in any skill they are struggling with. I enjoy working one-on-one with students allowing them to gain my trust and giving them the courage to ask questions and become comfortable around me. I have a great sense of humor and I am willing to go the extra mile to assure that my students are able to accomplish their maximum success level!
I started playing basketball when I was about 8 years old and I have loved the sport ever since. I played throughout my entire grade school career and I scored 1,000 points when I was in 8th grade. I also played on a few AAU teams and traveled across Pennsylvania to play in tournaments. I continued my basketball career throughout high school. I started playing Varsity basketball when I was a freshman and was a "starter" Sophomore through Senior year. I did not play basketball in college; however, I was involved in Intramural basketball all 4 years of college.
I graduated from Bloomsburg University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education (N-3 ,K-6). I graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.68. During my first student teaching placement, I taught in a Kindergarten classroom, teaching Kidwriting, Math, Language Arts, and Phonics. My second student teaching placement was in a Reading/Writing 5th grade classroom. During this past school year, I was a day-to-day substitute teacher in three school districts. The grade range was Kindergarten through sixth grade. I was also a long-term substitute teacher in 4th grade math the last 6 weeks of school.
A few of my college courses dealt with learning the fundamentals of Phonics and the approach to teaching the subject. My junior year of college, I had the opportunity to tutor a 1st grade student who was struggling in Phonics. I also taught Phonics to my Kindergarten class during my student teaching placement.
I started playing soccer when I was about 5 years old and stopped playing when I was 18 years old. Soccer was definitely one of my favorite sports growing up. I played on AYSO, club teams, indoor teams, and all throughout high school.
