I have practical experience working in the field of engineering before returning to grad school to get my MAT in Physics. I have taught physics and math for 10 years as a certified teacher in Pennsylvania. I have been awarded the 2008 Teacher Impact award by WGAL TV-8. I am a swim coach for ages 6-14.

I have four children (2 boys, 2 girls) between 5th and 11th grade right now. I teach at HACC (photovoltaics class) as part of my work day right now. I am comfortable teaching all possible ranges of ages and abilities. Usually, students are just stumbling over an initial 'speed bump' that I work to help them get over. Once a problem gets off to a good start, the student is much more successful at concluding it by him/herself. I look to be a guide first. Understanding of the method to a problem's solution is the key.

Algebra 1

Algebra 2

I am PA Certified in grades 7-12 math. I have taught Algebra 2 in High School.

Calculus

I am PA Certified in grades 7-12 math and physics. I achieved within the top 15% nationwide score on my Praxis exam. I have taught AP BC Calculus II in high school. I have a BS in Electrical Engineering where Calculus was used regularly. I then have a MAT Physics. The physics courses used calculus all the time. I know where all the topics in calculus actually get used.

Geometry

I am PA Certified in grades 7-12 math and physics. I achieved within the top 15% nationwide score on my Praxis exam. I have taught all levels of math in high school, from Algebra 1 through Calculus. Geometry is a fun subject with multidimensional thinking required.

Physics

I have taught all levels of physics, from General, to Academic, to Honors, to AP C. I am PA Teacher Certified in Physics, I have a BS in electrical engineering and my MAT in Physics. This is my strongest background, with multiple years of high school teaching, multiple classes of multiple levels.

Prealgebra

I have taught algebra 1 through calculus in high school. I am keenly aware of the initial difficulties students have coming into algebra for the first time. I can help you master the skills you need to succeed in your prealgebra course, that will then pave the way for success in formal algebra and beyond.

I am PA certified in Physics and Math. I have taken two college courses in astronomy. I own my own telescope, and track amateur radio satellites as a hobby. I have used astronomy labs in my physics course. I traveled to Aricebo in Puerto Rico with a NASA grant. I took a graduate course at the Green Bank Telescope (100 m radio dish) in West Virginia.

SAT Math

I am PA Teacher Certified in Math. I have taught Algebra 1, Algebra II and Trigonometry in High School.

I am PA certified in General Science, Physics, and Math. I have taught Physical Science in high school.

ACT Math

I am PA Teacher Certified in Math. I have taught Algebra 1, Algebra II and Trigonometry in High School.

Swimming

I have been actively teaching and coaching swimming for 35 years - since I got my Water Safety Instructor certificate when I was 16. I've coached club through high school varsity level swimming. I swam at the University of Pittsburgh, and continue to swim Masters currently. I have attended Eastern States Swim Clinic multiple times, and have a vast repertoire of drills to help teach any age swimmer how to get better and enjoy this great lifetime sport even more.

Water Polo

I have been playing, coaching, and refereeing water polo for over 35 years. I currently referee PA high school level (PIAA) in addition to NCAA. I am an assistant coach annually at the US Naval Academy summer age-group water polo camp. I have coached teams at the US Junior Olympics, US Junior Nationals, and assistant to the US team for the North American championships vs Mexico and Canada. I'm sure your game will improve with more fundamental skill work that I could provide.
