I have learned English on my own and I know how difficult it is to be fluent. I'm still not perfect and still have little mistakes, but I understand the difference from one language to another better than most natives. I have Bachelor's degree in Foreign Languages, Portuguese and English graduated in Brazil. I'm currently, I am working on my Master's degree on TESL (Teaching English as a second language) at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, and I am willing to become an ESL teacher in public schools and/or Community colleges.
I still don't have many ESL books, but I am looking for good ones. I have lots of materials and ideas to put in practice in a class.
I tutor some people through Skype, but I think that teaching in person is more effective. I like to teach language through music and TV shows because it helps to learn how to deal with daily life situations.
However, I can also do a "Composition type" classes if your intent is to learn English for school. I am very good with the English grammar and I could help if you need the language to pass tests and language proficiency exams.
I also have experience teaching Portuguese as a second language from when I was in Brazil. If you want to learn how to speak Portuguese, contact me.
I will be more than happy to help you with your language acquisition process.
