Trained as a research biologist with a B.S. from Cornell University, for the past 20 years I have home educated my own children. They each have their own personality and learning style, and I learned to adapt the study method to the child. Two are now finished with college and employed in their professions; the third is now off to college.
In addition to homeschooling my own children, for 14 years I have been teaching science classes at a weekly homeschool cooperative. I teach classes for elementary, middle school and high school age students. I also have tutored some of these students in science, math and writing for other coursework.
I now work part-time as a Professional Science Tutor for Penn College. I tutor the sciences (except Physics) and math through Algebra.
I have a passion to help students not only learn the required material for a subject, but also to become lifelong learners. When students discover learning methods that work for them, they can they apply that knowledge and method to other subjects, whether in school or out. I believe that every child can be successful.
