If your child is struggling in school, I can help. I am a certified elementary teacher with a Master of Education degree in Reading along with being a certified Reading Specialist. I also have Orton-Gillingham training which is typically used to help struggling readers or students with dyslexia. I am a Reading teacher in a local school district and also substitute in several school districts in Berks and Lancaster Counties.

I have experience creating my own lessons, utilizing many different curricula and am able to differentiate instruction to accommodate the needs of my students. I love to help children learn.

Vocabulary

Being a Reading Specialist, I have ideas to incorporate vocabulary into your child's reading instruction. I can teach your child how to take big words apart so they can decode them and then figure out what they mean.

I have excellent grammar skills and am also a good proofreader who can spot errors quickly.

I am a Certified Reading Specialist with a Master's Degree in Reading. I can provide evaluations and an analysis of the results. I can also diagnose problems and design specialized instruction and recommend reading material and strategies to help a struggling reader.
I am also a certified Orton-Gillingham tutor.

I have many resources available to help your child learn geography and remember it.

English

I have excellent command of the English language and its grammar. I can help your child take control of the English language.

Proofreading

I am able to spot errors in all kinds of print media quickly. I can teach someone various tricks to help them catch their mistakes.

Spelling

I am a great speller and have various strategies and ideas to help you become a better speller.

ACT Reading

I have helped students pass this kind of test. I can give your child strategies and the skills they need to pass this kind of test.

ACT English

I have helped many students pass this kind of test. I can give your child study tips to help them be successful on this test.

Elementary Math

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education and am certified to teach in Pennsylvania. As a substitute teacher, I have lots of experience working with many different kinds of learners and curriculums. I have written differentiated lesson plans and can quickly adapt my teaching to suit the needs of my students.
I have tutored students in higher level math as well.

I have a Masters degree in Reading and am a certified Reading Specialist. As a Master's degree candidate, I had to be proficient in phonics and phonics instruction to pass a class. I have taught many students how to read using this method.

Piano

As a child, I took piano lessons for 10 years. I am now the pianist at my church. I also play the organ. I still have the music I learned to play from.

Study Skills

I have helped students study for entrance exams to colleges and can give them the skills they will need to pass the test. I have many different strategies I can share with students to help them pass a test or improve their grades.

ESL/ESOL

As a Reading Specialist and a substitute teacher, I have experience dealing with and teaching child whose native language is not English. I do know some Spanish.

Dyslexia

I am a certified Orton-Gillingham tutor, which is typically used to help dyslexic children learn to read. This is a multi-sensory program designed to help struggling readers and students with dyslexia become successful. I am able to evaluate children and then provide them with the instruction they need to become successful readers.
