Hello everybody and welcome to my WyzAnt Tutoring Page!
My name is Rachel and I am a fun, smart, quick-witted, artistic tutor ready to teach you a wide range of subjects!
I graduate this spring from Haverford College in Haverford, PA, with a Bachelors of Science in Geology and a minor in Environmental Studies. Though I love and find the most interesting experiences in the world of science, I am also an avid and creative painter, printmaker and portrait artist. My interests span from drawing and photography, to earth science and math. I also love reading and writing and have published creative stories and poetry.
So -- Do you need help getting a creative edge in your artwork? Are you lost at a problem in algebra? Are you finding it hard to understand the complexities or significance of earth science? I would be honored to help you understand any of those questions, as well as others! I am constantly pushing myself as a student myself, reading to learn and learning to write and writing to inspire. My addiction to new knowledge propels me forward in life and I gain my best confidence and happiness from learning and teaching.
After tutoring high school students last year, I am currently the co-coordinator for Haverford College's MAST [Mentoring and Student Teaching] Tutoring Program where I lead the workshops for the High School Writing Program. Seeing the joy in a student's face is one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever felt and I get that rush every time I speak and teach at MAST. That pure rush from learning something new and actually understanding it -- there's no comparison. If I could, I would teach everyone in the world everything I know and only then would I discover more about the world, myself, and my students, than ever before.
In high school, I was an earth sciences tutor for 9th graders and then went on to become a Mu Alpha Theta tutor for math subjects up to calculus. I find it most effective in my teaching if I approach each session with a positive attitude, a little laughter, a lot confidence and a flourish of exciting teaching methods. I use my art to explain things for visually-adapted students and I can move slowly or quickly through the material, depending on how I gauge the student and their confidence in it. My patience is extremely helpful and, paired with my calm facade and happy personality, I know tutoring you will be a benefit for us both.
I look forward to teaching you! Don't hesitate, get tutoring help now!
Sincerely,
Rachel
