I have been tutoring for 13 years now. My students range from grades kindergarten through twelfth. I am a certified special education teacher and reading specialist. I am trained in programs that follow a direct, systematic approach to instruction for students who are struggling with reading. These programs include: Orton Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, and Project Read. I taught for 9 years in a public elementary school, grades k-5 and 3 years in a private high school, grades 9-10. I enjoy teaching and developing relationships with my students through mutual respect and trust.

Elementary (K-6th)

As an elementary Learning Support teacher, I provided direct instruction in reading and math and supported the students in the content areas (social studies and science). Within the Language Arts curriculum, I designed lesson plans that addressed reading (decoding), spelling (encoding), reading comprehension, written expression, vocabulary, and executive functioning skills.

Dyslexia

I am a certified special education teacher and reading specialist. I am trained in programs that follow a direct, systematic, multisensory approach to instruction for students who are struggling with decoding/encoding. These programs include: Orton Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, and Project Read. In addition, I provide direct instruction in reading fluency, phonological awareness, vocabulary, comprehension, and written expression.
