I am a Pennsylvania certified teacher with five years of teaching experience. I specialize in assisting students to achieve their full potential in reading, writing, grammar, spelling, and all areas of the language arts. In addition, I am certified to teach K-6th in math, and have experience teaching in that area.
I am also certified to teach Kindergarten through 12th grade (K-12) Language Arts (or English), and K-12 English as a Second Language (ESL). With my ESL students, I also focus on speaking and listening skills. In sum, I tutor students in Language Arts for all grades, as well as adults.
My Master's degree in Education and teaching experience provide me with a wealth of teaching strategies, lessons, and assessment knowledge that only a certified teacher can bring to the table. Further, I have a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center, and experience as an attorney. This education and experience makes me particularly effective in teaching writing and analytical skills. In fact, I am a published author.
My students will benefit from lessons tailored to their needs, learning style, and interests. I take my time to get to know students' areas of strength and challenge, and how they learn best. Then, I use that information to inform my instruction. By taking students' interests into account, I increase student engagement and enhance learning. Positive reinforcement is a mainstay of my instruction, as is fostering determination and motivation. While I have high standards, I am patient with every student. Teaching is important to me because student success is important to me.
Finally, I can provide professional references as well as the three background checks required by Pennsylvania schools for teachers.
