I majored in both mathematics and German, graduating from Messiah College in 2006. I've had 4 language immersion experiences in Germany and Austria, ranging in length from one month to an academic school year. I have experience teaching German levels 1 through 4, and teaching math from pre-algebra through algebra two. I have also tutored pre-calculus, calculus, consumer math, and general math.

I can work with students in person or online, using an interactive chat room with white board to demonstrate problems. My students' parents describe me as patient and flexible when working through their particular challenges. I vary my explanations and instructional techniques by student need.

Algebra 1

Algebra: the art of isolating variables. I'll be happy to work with you to review arithmetic and show you the easiest or shortest way(s) to solve problems. Visual learner? No problem, I can teach you how to use text to draw pictures to help you solve problems.

Geometry

Geometry: a combination of algebraic skills, logic and proof, and remembering definitions and theorems. I look forward to helping you put the pieces together and sharing strategies to help you remember what you've learned.

German

I've been speaking German for 15 years, have had 4 immersion experiences (2 in Germany, 2 in Austria), and have my C1 speaking certification, which is advanced level proficiency. I can help with anything from vocabulary and grammar to style and structure.

Prealgebra

I can review (or teach) arithmetic, integers, order of operations, solving single-variable equations, geometry formulas, manipulation of fractions, and develop students toward algebraic thinking.

How do I receive a discount?

Save between 5 and 15% on tutoring by purchasing credit with one of our prepaid discount packages. You can buy one of our standard 5, 10 or 15% packages or customize your own package based on how much tutoring you need. The credit you purchase can be used towards any tutor at any time and does not expire. If you do not use the entire package, we will simply deduct what you did spend on tutoring from your original purchase price and give you a refund. Discount packages start as low as $190.
