I started tutoring around 1980, mostly for homeschoolers. I have tutored children from Kindergarten to 8th grade as well as several high school students, both homeschooled and attending a regular school. I've also taught in some small parent-run and private schools. My main job now is teaching courses for homeschoolers on-line.

I have a degree in Elementary Education from West Chester University (1987), summa cum laude, and teacher certification.

Most of my tutoring has been for remedial or beginning math and reading, which I find the most rewarding, but I've taught a wide variety of subjects and ages over the years. I've had a couple of live-in tutoring jobs for homeschooling families where I taught almost all the subjects.

I'm a patient teacher, and I am very good with nervous or shy children as well as with children who are easily frustrated.

I believe each child is a unique individual and one method does not work for everyone, so I try to adapt my style and methods based on the individual child's own strengths and weaknesses and interests.

I'm available for tutoring in the morning or early afternoon.

The way I like to teach science is to do it using projects made from everyday materials to illustrate scientific concepts. I've found that is a good way to make science clear and easy to understand.
