I am a recent graduate of Alvernia University where I majored in Secondary Education Social Studies. I set myself apart by becoming a student leader as a Resident Assistant and a member of various clubs on campus. As part of my coursework I implemented lessons in the urban setting of the Reading school district. This gave me the opportunity to learn the importance of making personal connections with students to promote student motivation and achievement. I also was able to effectively use technology to enhance the learning environment of my students and encourage participation from usually timid students.
I love History and Social Studies and I use this passion for the subject as a motivation to help students perform well in these subjects in a hope that they might learn to love the subjects that I am so fond of. Apart from just a love of History and Social Studies, I have an extensive knowledge of the subjects. I was honored as a top student in the Humanities department of Alvernia University when I received the Outstanding Student in Humanities Award in May of 2012. I also received the ETS Recognition of Excellence for Outstanding Performance on the Praxis II Social Studies Content Knowledge Test in 2011.
Overall, I want to be your tutor because I believe that a healthy understanding of History and Social Studies does not only lead to good grades; it builds better citizens.
