I have over 10 years of teaching experience working with children both in and outside the classroom. Every child can succeed in the classroom, and I have spent time working with children who have behavioral and emotional issues at both the elementary and high school level. Encouragement, praise, support and reinforcement of academic skills have been key in my classroom experience. I want to help students learn both academic and social skills by teaching those critical basic reading and math concepts and study skills.

I have taught all grades from K-12; taught Kindergarten in both public and private schools using an inquiry based program, and Special Education in an Alternative School. I have also most recently taught English to grades 7-12 in an Alternative School setting. Teaching English in a classroom has given me experience in testing and diagnosing reading and writing difficulties and how to design interventions. I have also found success with students in reading interventions both with fluency and comprehension issues. I utilize a variety of techniques and texts to assess and intervene in each student's area of need.

My undergraduate degree is in Social Work, and I have a Post Bacc. Certification in Special Education. My research and work at the graduate level has focused on Reading and Math interventions. I love working with students and watching them make progress and helping them be the very best student they can be.
