I graduated Cum Laude from Millersville University in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in December, 2010 with a dual degree in Elementary and Special Education, as well as a minor in Athletic Coaching. During my student teaching experience at George A. Smith Middle School, Solanco School District, I managed a diverse Alternative Education classroom of 6th through 8th grade students. I developed and implemented lesson plans for reading, language arts, science, group, and advisory classes. I quickly learned to adapt to new and challenging situations. The second portion of my student teaching was completed at Smoketown Elementary School, Conestoga Valley School District, in a multi-age 1st and 2nd grade classroom. Here I was responsible for creating lessons for 13 first graders and 12 second graders. It was important that my lesson still taught to each grade level standard, and maintained interest of the second graders who may have already been exposed to the material. Both positions helped to expose me to different educational systems.
I was a member of the Varsity softball team for three years at Millersville. I was the team representative for the Student Athletic Committee where I served as the chair person for the University. I was also selected out of the University representatives to attend the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference for Student Athletes. These experiences have taught me to handle multiple responsibilities while successfully managing athletics and academics. I will bring to your district my passion for education, my experience student teaching, my knowledge of co-teaching as a para-professional at the Pennsbury School District, Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania, as well as strong leadership skills with an interest in coaching athletics.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my credentials. I look forward to helping you achieve your educational goals!
