I am an English teacher and wrestling coach at Penn Wood High School. Formerly, I worked as an engineer, but after three years, I decided to make a fairly drastic career change. After obtaining my Master's in English Education at Villanova, I began teaching, first at the middle school level, and then at the high school level where I have been for the past two years.

I am passionate about literature and writing and try to convey that passion to my students. My goal is that all of my students become better writers, more creative thinkers, and that they all achieve to the best of their abilities.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

English

I am a certified secondary English teacher with three years of experience teaching middle school and high school. Currently, I teach 9th and 10th grade English at Penn Wood High School. I specialize in teaching literary analysis, reading skills, grammar, and writing skills.

Grammar

I am a certified English teacher who has specialized in teaching grammar to high school students for three years. I have worked with students of all skill levels, including ELL students.

Reading

I am a certified secondary English teacher with three years of experience teaching reading comprehension skills. I have worked with students of various reading levels in a classroom and an individual tutoring setting.

SAT Reading

The critical reading sections on the SAT are designed to test your ability to read and understand written English of the level you need to make the most of a university course. The keys to success are an ability to stay focused on fairly dull reading passages and specific strategies for approaching the two question types found on the SAT reading section: sentence completion and reading comprehension.

SAT Writing

I have been a certified teacher of high school grammar and writing for 3 years.

Study Skills

Study skills or study strategies are approaches applied to learning. They are generally critical to success in school, considered essential for acquiring good grades, and useful for learning throughout one's life.

There are an array of study skills, which may tackle the process of organizing and taking in new information, retaining information, or dealing with assessments. They include mnemonics, which aid the retention of lists of information, effective reading and concentration techniques, as well as efficient note-taking. I am a certified secondary English teacher.

Writing

I am a certified secondary English teacher with three years of experience teaching writing skills at the middle school and high school levels. I have taught all areas of writing including basic grammar, creative writing, persuasive writing, and and research writing.
