As someone who is experienced in teaching and instructing people from many cultures and on a variety of subjects, I have learned that teaching is more of a gift given, rather than something learned. I received my certificate from Cambridge CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). This is one of the best and most recognized ESL certificates worldwide. For a year and a half I was a tutor at a charter school in Lancaster City helping Spanish middle school students with math and science. I am presently working for a literacy center teaching beginner level ESL to Arabic speaking students from several different Arab nations.
My tutoring style is based on Cambridge CELTA which is very versatile. I use guided discovery methods that use lots of group and pair actives (if more than one student), pronunciation drills and visuals that help students understand words and phrases in their social context, as well as many more. What I bring to you as a tutor is patience, cultural sensitivity, practical effective methodology and character to every lesson I teach. The thing that testifies to one's capacity to teach is the student who walks away from a lesson with clarity of understanding and feelings of empowerment. I look to make you, as my student, feel the same way. My goal is to help you find your place in society and excel in all areas of life through my tutoring.
As a teacher that specialize in ESL, or teaching English as a second language, my objective is to teach non-native English speakers the basic English skills of Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. As well as build a strong foundation of the systems of the English language in every student. One of the most effective ways that I assist ESL students is by creating and presenting comprehensible lesson plans that are stimulating for all learning styles. I heavily research and incorporate a variety of resources that accommodates the students’ learning experience, via visual, audio and kinetic methods. In addition, I integrate writing and phonetic activities that are practical and give them the ability to comprehend and retain the concepts and language. My goal is to foster an open and gracious learning environment that helps students overcome the challenges of language learning.
