Teaching others new ideas is my passion and hobby. Since the age of 16 I've kept myself busy with a multiple volunteer opportunities and community projects in the field of education.
Since 2007 I helped the local library by developing and teaching computer classes to adults in Microsoft Office. As the youngest and longest volunteer in the program, I'm proud to teach patrons as well as train new adults who volunteer with us. I've learned endless strategies and techniques to benefit a room of 10 people at different levels all at once. I'm happy to help anyone with basic internet skills or Microsoft: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access (2003/07/10).
For 2 years I tutored ESL (English as a Second Language) teenagers in TOEFL -- a comprehensive test with reading, writing, listening, and speaking sections. TOEFL tests usually require 4 hours to complete and are used for second language learners to apply for higher education or career. While assisting a certified ESL high school teacher, I've worked with: Chinese, Korean, Puerto Rican, Mexican, Peruvian, Ethiopian, Kenyan, and Russian students. ESL students are my favorite to work with because of the diversity and dedication they bring.
Since 2007 I've tutored local childcare students with homework on a weekly basis. I'm experienced with ages 5-13 and glad to help with tutoring, study skills, homework, or learning Spanish. It helps to know the individuals strengths and weaknesses before starting to provide lessons that are challenging as well as achievable.
After working with all ages and all levels, I'm confident you or someone you know can benefit from one of my areas of expertise. I look forward to hearing from you!
