I have been working with Adobe Photoshop since its early days. I am upgraded to the most recent version CS 5.1. I am extremely proficient in the program and constantly learn new aspects every day. I work with bridge, camera raw, and Photoshop on a daily basis editing images and designing albums. Photoshop has opened a door in the digital world where the possibilities are endless. I can add people to an image when they were not present; open eyes; create masterpieces from a simple image using actions, presets, or filters. Basically, with Photoshop, I can almost do anything that one would want to an image.
There is very little I don't know when it comes to computers! I work with both platforms Windows and Mac- all operating systems, old and new. I also use an iPad, iPhone and kindle on a daily basis. I work with all the networking sites that include Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest and so on. I also have a few blogs under my belt, as well. My computer programs range from everything from Microsoft word to the adobe family. As a graphic designer, I need to know the ins and outs of every aspect of computers, even fixing or adding to my own personal computer's hardware.
I personally have worked with macs since the 1980s. Presently I have a mac pro tower, macbook pro 13 and 17 inch. I also have an iPhone 4s iPad, Apple TV and such. I have taught myself to fix the computers, and have the ability to add ram, change or put a new video card, etc. I have used a mac for all of my graphic design work. There is no better product for graphic design than a mac.
Macintosh is owned by Apple. It is the top growing stock (Apple), and has the most innovative products. These are some of their products- apple computers, mac pro, MacBooks, iMac, iPhone, iPad, iPod, iPod touch, apple tv, and so much more. They are known for their perfection, as late Steve Jobs always wanted, and to be completely different from others.
My father photographed as a hobby during my childhood, and that is where my passion stems from. Throughout the years, I have taken film, lighting and digital classes in both high school and college. In college I got the opportunity to travel around the world and photograph each and every second. It was quite an amazing experience. My BA from GW is Fine Arts Degree with a few specializations in Photography, Graphic Design, and Color Theory.
I went own to open a graphic design business where I am constantly taking pictures. As part of my business, I currently shoot portrait sessions with backgrounds and props or on location. I currently own a Nikon D300 with several different lenses. I am constantly taking new classes to keep up with the current trends. I am a member of WPPI, as well as other photography based groups.
Photography to me is a passion. Photography stops the world around us. It brings us back to times we never thought we would remember. It is a form of art that has transformed from the hours in the darkroom to hours on the computer and the post production of making the images even more magnificent. It can capture any moment in time- birthdays, weddings, sporting events- it is timeless. It is an art where a professional uses aperture, shutter speed, and the ability to frame the world, not just as a stopped moment in time, but as a work of art. Everyone can be a photographer, but it takes skill, education, and passion to be a true professional.
