I was trained at Temple University's Tyler School of Art and have a BS in Art Education. I am a PA certified Art teacher in the grades of k-12 but have experience tutoring younger students. Because I am PA Certified I currently have cleared all the background checks required to teach in the state of PA. I have taught in Baltimore City Public Schools for the last 2 years, so I am also MD certified, and taught 600 students last year. My joy is from seeing a student get that "eureka" moment, when something they have been working for clicks. Though I do teach 30 plus students at one time in my regular job I really enjoy working with small groups giving them that one on one attention they deserve. I have worked with students who are natural talents and students that in their own words "couldn't draw a stick figure if their life depended on it". Every child can succeed, learn and achieve their goals, but each child might have a different way of getting there. Being trained as a art teacher I have experience in everything from multimedia, to sculpture to drawing and painting. Tyler wants its graduated to experience a multitude of media and mediums so that they are better able to adapt and use them in the future workings, which for me was teaching others all about them. In my personal art I learn toward the 2D, working in painting and drawing mostly though recently have been working in stamping. I am versed in inks, oil, water and acrylic and am excited to teach other about the relationships between them. I have found that all students learn best when they can relate to that which they are learning and understand the reasoning and applications behind it. I also sneak a little math and reading into every lesson I teach, like sneaking the vegetables into the yummy parts of the meal, they get the benefit without even noticing it. It is part of my job to figure out how your student learns best and adapt how I teach for them. If you have any questions at all feel free to email me I am an open book.
