My name is Anika and I am originally from Germany. That is where I finished the first part of my education to become a teacher. I studied German, History and Religion and passed my First State Examination in 1997. Since then I completed my graduate work in German Literature at Penn State and also received a Master of Arts from the Leibniz University in Hannover, Germany, in German Literature and Social Psychology. During my studies I tutored children in English and German. I know both languages very well which helps me explain certain concepts of the German language to native English speakers and vice versa.
Currently I am teaching 6 students, ranging from age 7 to 15 and of different skill levels. My approach towards teaching is based on the student and his or her learning style. I try incorporate speaking, reading and pronunciation, writing and spelling, grammar and cultural information in every lesson. I use games to encourage speaking and to reinforce and repeat taught concepts. It's also fun. But the focus of each lesson would be based on the students' needs.
