As a young student, I always found myself helping one of my friends who were in need of assistance.
Often this would entail helping a fellow student with a math
problem, rewriting a composition or preparing for a test. This desire to help continued as I grew older. It carried from academics through scouting, through sports and stage crew. I view everything as teachable moment. This love of helping led me to the teaching profession.
During my tenure as an Athletic Director I was responsible for Academic Eligibility. This involved review of reports citing students with multiple failures. I mentored these students to help them eliminate these failing grades and return them to the playing fields.
I bring a variety of expertise at all levels; from Middle School to Graduate School. I have taught German
and Social Studies
at the High School level. I taught English
and French in a German school. I developed curriculum for the Talented and Gifted Program and an Organization
and Study Skills
Program at the middle school level.
I am an Adjunct at a local college’s Graduate and Professional Studies Program where I teach Curriculum Design, Differentiated Instruction and Issues in Education.I see my work here as helping to mold future educators.
One of the greatest satisfactions I receive in teaching is seeing the look on my student’s face when they “get it”. I look at the learning style of each student and develop ways that would help that student learn best.
