James is able to teach entire graduate engineering math classes with ease and can figure out virtually any problem! There is nothing too difficult. He is great with classes containing ordinary differential equations, linear algebra, partial differential equations, Fourier analysis, and finite element analysis to name a few. He can make the most difficult problems understandable and explains them in a way that "makes sense". On time and pleasant to work with.

My son has been meeting with Jim over the summer reinforcing subject matter from last year and introducing concepts that he will encounter in the upcoming semester. My son seems more confident because of these sessions. He also states that Jim is able to articulate intelligently any subject matter they have engaged in during casual conversation.

Our daughter has been working with Jim for the last year and a half in Physics, Algebra I and Algebra II and I have to say he is wonderful and knows how to get through to her. Jim will keep going with the review of a concept until there is a mastery of it, which we find extremely helpful. It is not just a simple review of the subject and then moving on, he makes sure our daughter is getting it, usually by doing more and more problems until she finds the problems easy to tackle and complete. If there is not enough time during a session with Jim he will suggest emailing him material so he can review it further. I know Jim is getting through when our daughter is asking to have more time with him as she sees him as her way to understand the subject.

Jim was able to connect with my daughter though she absolutely detests physics. This has more to do with her teacher than her actual abilities. She is very bright and Jim made her feel comfortable immediately and seemed to make progress in terms of her basic understanding of the subject. He helped my daughter with her ACT math. Having already taken her SATs and wanting to see what she could get on the ACT, James helped Adrian to gain a 30 on her math section, which helped her earn an overall score slightly better than her SAT scores. Knowing nothing of the test, he answered any questions she had and encouraged her to not make "stupid mistakes". He was extremely helpful and encouraging and I highly recommend him.

Jim is a great tutor in every respect. My son had really struggled,, in math, during his 1st year in college. As a result, he had very little confidence in being able to continue in his Engineering major. His school gave him the opportunity to take a placement exam as an alternative to retaking the class in the fall, but he was making very little progress studying on his own. Jim helped to build my son’s confidence and motivate him. He was able to quickly assess my son’s weaknesses, was flexible with his schedule, and was able to teach my son a full semester’s worth of work during a week of tutoring. My son passed his Algebra/Trig exam which he had no hopes of passing a week earlier! I can’t tell you what a difference this has made in my son’s confidence and attitude about school.
Jim was excellent. I highly recommend him as a tutor, and plan on having him continue to tutor my son if he starts to have difficulty with Calculus and Physics courses in the future. I also plan on having Jim tutor my younger son for the SAT’s.

James was the perfect fit for Erik! Erik has taken a big senior slide and dug himself into a pretty deep hole. James came in and really worked with Erik - he was patient with him and really explained the material so Erik understood it and actually started to say physics is interesting! During test and quiz time he would try and give us more tutoring sessions when he didn't feel confident that Erik really had a grasp on the material. It worked! He went from really struggling to passing with flying colors. The tutoring sessions did more than just get him through the courses he was struggling with - they helped him with basic study skills and they also helped him to realize that it is ok to ask for help. James was so personable and always made time to fit us in. He always followed through to find out about test scores, etc. Great Tutor - I would recommend him in a second to anyone and will use him again with my other sons.

I went to the WyzAnt website because my son needed help with math for a re-take of the ASVAB test (to get into a trade college). We had a very short window of opportunity for tutoring and my son needed to gain 3 points on the test in order to be granted an interview with the school. Jim responded rapidly and changed his schedule around to help us. His manner of teaching was such that he put my son at ease and he gained not only the three points he needed in the math section but he went up by 20 math points. I wish I had found Jim earlier in our son's academic career. I would highly recommend Jim to anyone who needs help with math.

Jim is an excellent tutor who really knows the back and forth, front and back, of all aspects of what he tutors. He helped me with physics, and was not only willing to meet at any hour (be it very late or early), he was very patient when I could not grasp a concept. Furthermore, Jim had countless examples of all difficulties to help me understand all the concepts, from easy to very complicated. Jim works with my daughter who is a ninth grader. My daughter has always struggled in school and she has no self-confidence when it comes to math. Without question, Jim is one of the most professional, flexible and patient tutors that my daughter has ever worked with. Jim understands the challenges young students go through when they just can't seem to "get it".
My daughter has also hated math. In the past, she would avoid doing her math homework and couldn't understand why she was failing. Jim has motivated my daughter to the point where she actually does her math homework and will work even harder to understand where she went wrong when not getting the right answer. She has matured academically with Jim's help and I don't know where she would be without him.
Jim has even gone so far as to call my daughter before her test to see if she needs an additional session just to help her feel confident and prepared before going into the test. Talk about going above and beyond.
The one thing that I appreciate about Jim the most is his flexibility. My daughter plays three sports and is a member of her school chorus. You can only imagine how difficult it is to try and schedule a weekly tutoring session. Jim bends over backwards to accommodate our family when it comes to scheduling. He travels a long way to work with my daughter and his patience and understanding never go without notice.

Jim and I started tutoring lessons about half way through the semester for Physics I, a class I failed miserably the first semester of the year. I failed the first test again second semester. We studied our butts off and I brought my grade up more than 50% for the second exam, and even higher for the final exam. He made every effort to help me, offering phone sessions, email sessions, and he even came to Temple university two times, sometimes three or four times a week, to help me prepare for my exams. I'm extremely happy, satisfied, and thankful that he was my tutor. He seriously drilled the concepts into my head and then all of a sudden things started to click for me. It was an awesome experience and I would totally recommend him to anyone. If I have a problem with Physics 2 or Calculus 2 he will be my first call. Thanks Jim, you are awesome.

Jim worked for about two months with my son, whose math education had a few gaps after he changed schools. After just two months, my son's SAT score in math went from pitiful to competitive. I am hiring Jim again for some ACT prep in the fall. He is reliable, patient, my son liked working with him, and he really figured out how to get the score up, quickly and efficiently. I would highly recommend him over one of those SAT prep courses. Jim figured out what my son understood and where he was confused, and he focused on those areas where help was most needed.
