The world we live in is ours to explore; you just have to look up. The excitement of discovering the wonders of science should be developed in every student! Man has not invented anything the nature hasn't modeled already. A simple bacteria has a flagella that can spin at 10,000 times per minute, stop within a quarter of a turn, then start the other way. Man can't come close to that motor!
I have been teaching Horticulture, Biology, Environmental Sciences, Chemistry and Physical Sciences in an intercity private high school in Philadelphia for four years. As important as the science curriculum, I have encouraged sound study techniques, proper preparation, and a sense of self worth.
My success in motivating students in the exciting world around us, coupled with helping them realize they need a studious attitude as well as their importance in the environment itself has made a difference in students lives.
My favorite subject is Nature Sciences, Biology. I have taught Biology on a High School level for 4 years. Biology is like learning a new language- to put sentences together you need to know the meaning of strange words!
The study of Botany is the study of plants. From acorn to mighty Oak, daffodils to Redwoods, poison ivy to apple tree, all are a part of the plant kingdom. Among the learning experiences in Botany you will learn how plants grow, how they reproduce and how they make food through photosynthesis. The base of the food chain is the autotrophs, plants, or those organisms that store energy from the sun for every animal to eat. Human beings depend on plants to prevent erosion, store food, provide shade and beautify their homes and yards. Plants make oxygen! We all share a need for that! This is truly a course worth attention.
I have a BA in Natural Sciences from Kutztown and have taken all the plant courses offered by Temple University. I have practical experience through working at a garden center for the last five years.
Zoology is the study of Biology that deals with the animal kingdom. We share much with this kingdom, as we are classified as one of them. This course includes understanding the place or niche each animal has in the great web we call nature. As no animal can make their own food, they are totally dependent on the plant world to provide it, as well as the oxygen we breathe. Learn the relationships between plants and animals, as well as relationships between animals. What variety! Claws and scales, and feathers, and hair. Made up of billions of microscopic cells, animals need to obtain and use energy, grow and develop, reproduce, communicate with others, and form fascinating relationships with the world around them.
I have a BA in Natural Sciences from Kutztown University, and have taught Biology at the High School level for four years.
