I have experience tutoring students for the SAT and ACT in all areas of the tests and have taught mathematics at the high school level. I have a proven track record of increasing students' ACT and SAT scores and improving their skills. My approach is tailored specifically to the student, so no two programs are alike. My expertise allows me to quickly identify students' problem areas and most effectively address these in the shortest amount of time possible. For the SAT, each student receives a 95-page spiral-bound book of strategies, notes, and practice problems that I created from scratch after a rigorous analysis of the test.

In high school I scored 1550/1600 (780M, 770V) on the SAT, in January 2013 I scored 2390/2400 (800M, 790R, 800W), and in October 2013 I scored 2380/2400 (800M, 780R, 800W). Yes, I still take the tests to make sure I am teaching the appropriate material. I am available to tutor only for the ACT and SAT (all subject areas) at this time, weekdays 8am-9pm and Saturdays 730am-9pm.

I am a Princeton University graduate with a B.S.E. in Operations Research and Financial Engineering, plus I have taken education courses at Delaware Valley College. I am hard-working, patient, and able to connect well with students of all abilities and ages. I truly enjoy helping students achieve their goals. Thanks for visiting my page, and best of luck!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Praxis

I majored in Operations Research and Financial Engineering at Princeton, which involved a great deal of higher level math similar to that seen on the Praxis test. To earn the degree I had to take a number of upper-level math courses. Also I was recognized by ETS for scoring in the top 15% of all Praxis II Mathematics test takers.

SAT Math

Scored 780/800 on SAT Math in high school and 800/800 on January 26, 2013 test. Routinely score 800/800 on practice tests. Taught high school math and have extensive experience tutoring in SAT Math. Able to help students improve their math skills and also learn many valuable test-related shortcuts and strategies.

SAT Reading

Scored 770/800 on SAT Reading in high school and 790/800 on January 26, 2013 test. Routinely score 800/800 on practice tests. Able to help students improve reading comprehension through specific test-taking strategies and pinpoint necessary areas of vocabulary improvement.

SAT Writing

Scored 800/800 on January 26, 2013 SAT Writing exam, with a 12 on the essay. Able to help focus students on necessary grammar rules and help them with essay composition.

My last post spoke about willpower, specifically noting that your supply of willpower is finite and that it is used up for all different kinds of things requiring self-control. There are many ways that this relates to test-taking, but I would like to clearly state some very important truths right here: 1. If you are low on sleep, your willpower will be depleted and energy that could be... read more

In their book “Willpower: Rediscovering the Greatest Human Strength,” Roy F. Baumeister and John Tierney share an amazing amount of information about willpower, or self-control. One interesting point they make is that a number of studies have shown two particular lessons concerning human willpower: “1. You have a finite amount of willpower that becomes depleted as you use it. 2. You... read more
