Dear Students, Parents, and Families,
Since 2005, I have worked as a substitute teacher in the Carroll County Public Schools. I am certified in Secondary English, with a Masters degree in Education from McDaniel College which I received in 2008. Due to the economy and school financing along with shrinking enrollment, I have worked in many long term jobs, meaning for full semesters in most cases. The schools where I have held these positions include North Carroll HS, South Carroll HS, and Gateway School. I have also taught at Westminster HS, Century HS, Winters Mill HS, Francis Scott Key HS, Manchester Valley HS, and various middle schools in the county. I am familiar with all language arts components. These classes include Modern American, Global Perspectives, Pop Culture, Multicultural, Public Speaking, and Grammar. In addition, I have taught Reading, successfully prepared students for HSA's, and tutored after school. I have supported students to complete Bridge projects in summer school and in after-school programs. Life skills and special needs students are among my favorites.
I am willing to work just as hard as you show me you can! Even if you hate reading, I don't mind! I take my time, and will work with you at your own pace. I'm nice and patient, but I expect a lot of effort from you. I really want you to be successful!
What parents want to know: I am results oriented. Your child's success is my success. I have experience with standardized test prep as well as classroom instruction at all levels, from the strugglers to the high flyers. My references include principals from all over Carroll County and many colleagues as well. Please know that I am reliable and flexible, and that my students really like me!
